HAIRS/HUMAN/ANIMAL/COMPARISON
Hairs can be evaluated for DNA extraction, human vs. animal and species determination. Body hair location (somatic origin – head vs. pubic) and limited racial information can be derived from hair examinations. Questioned human hairs are examined for evidence of pulled or putrid roots, disease states, physical damage, and adhering trace evidence. Questioned hairs are also compared to known hair controls for similarities and differences.
